Moving a prescription

It takes one phone call and about four minutes

People put this off because they think it means paperwork, a doctor visit, or starting over. It does not. Federal rules let one pharmacy request a transfer directly from another, and the only person who has to do anything is us.

  1. Call and tell us where it is now

    The chain name and the town is enough. If you have the bottle in your hand, read us the Rx number and it goes faster.

  2. We call them

    We request the file, including remaining refills. Most come across the same day. Controlled substances and a few insurance plans have rules that slow this down, and we will tell you on the phone if yours is one of them.

  3. We call you back when it is filled

    Pick it up at the counter, or put it on the delivery run above. Ring (816) 555-0110 to start it.

Ninety-six years on the same corner

Four families have owned this counter and none of them moved it

The building has been a pharmacy since 1930. The fountain is original, the marble is chipped in the same two places it has always been chipped, and the back bar mirror is the one that came with it.

What that buys a customer is not nostalgia. It is that the pharmacist knows which of your medicines you have been on for eleven years, notices when a new one interacts with it, and can phone your doctor's office without being put in a queue. That is the whole argument for an independent, and it does not fit on a drive-through sign.
